A Murder investigation is underway after a man, who was found with multiple stab wounds at a flat in Northfield on Sunday 24 November, died in hospital on New Year’s Eve.
Emergency services were called to the address on Norrington Road just after 6pm, where 71-year-old Barry Wilkins was found seriously injured.
He was treated for stab injuries to his stomach, back and shoulder and remained in a critical but stable condition in hospital for 38 days until his death on 31 December.
The case is now being treated as murder and a forensic post-mortem will take place tomorrow (3 January).

The 47-year-old, of Linley Grove, Kings Heath, heard claims that she stabbed Barry Wilkins seven times and was remanded in custody to appear at Birmingham Crown Court on 4 March.
West Midlands Police Detective Inspector Simon Astle said: “This was an isolated incident and we understand the defendant and injured man were known to each other.”
