Detectives have launched an investigation after violence broke out between two groups in Wolverhampton last night (24 April).
Officers were initially called at around 4.40pm after a car was damaged in Bilston.
Later that evening, at 9pm, police were called to a report of a man having been taken to hospital with stab wounds. The 20-year-old had been riding a bike along Hillside Gardens in Eastfield when a car pulled up and two men jumped out and attacked him.
The young man received hospital treatment for superficial knife wounds to his leg and buttocks.
A few minutes later two men arrived at the city’s hospital with gunshot pellet wounds to the shoulder and arm, having been attacked. The pair are also believed to have been injured during a dispute in the Eastfield area.
Damage was also caused to a house on Deansfield Road, when a shot was fired at the property.
A 17-year-old youth was arrested from Deansfield Road on suspicion of assault a short time later.
Detective Chief Inspector Pete Dunn from the Major Investigation Team in Bloxwich is leading the inquiry. He said: “This appears to be a dispute between two groups, which has led to three people suffering injuries − thankfully none of them are life threatening although it could easily have been more serious.
“We are still piecing together all of the information regarding the events of last night and we want to hear from anyone who was in the Eastfield area and may well have witnessed all or part of these crimes.
“Violence such as this has no place on the streets of the West Midlands. We will be actively seeking those involved in armed criminality within our communities, whilst extra officers will be on patrol to ensure no further incidents occur and those responsible are brought into custody.
“Local officers are in the area today, speaking to residents and offering some reassurance to those concerned by what happened.”
Anyone with information should call Force CID in Bloxwich by dialling 101 or speak to Crimestoppers anonymously on0800 555 111.
