Police in Derby have issued two images of a suspect they believe is committing robberies in the city.

He is thought to have been involved in several offences on Tuesday April 22 and two further offences the day after.

The first of the two most recent offences happened at 9am on Wednesday April 23 when a 45-year-old woman was walking along Harrington Street. She was approached from behind by someone on a bike and as he passed her he grabbed her bag, which contained a swimming suit and towel, and rode off.

Later the same day, at 12.05pm, on a riverside path at the back of David Lloyds on Pride Park a 33-year-old woman was again approached from behind. As the cyclist passed her he grabbed her handbag, containing a Kindle, and rode off towards the football stadium.

Detective Sergeant Chris Richmond said: “We are treating this series of robberies extremely seriously and are doing everything we can to identify the offender. Although the images are not particularly clear I hope someone will recognise either the clothing or bike used by this robber.”

Anyone who has any information about the robberies or the youth on the bike should contact police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
