A burglary in Bromsgrove is being linked to an incident in which a car was broken into.

An Aston Villa football shirt, hooded jacket and empty handbag were taken from the house in Counting House Way, Stoke Heath, between 10pm on Sunday, 4th May and 3.45am on Monday, 5th May – the bank holiday weekend.

The offenders got through an unlocked gate to the rear and then entered the house via an unlocked rear patio door. The stolen property was discarded in an adjacent alley.

It is believed the burglary is linked to another incident between Sunday evening and Monday morning in nearby Buntsford Hill in which a Renault Megane had a brick thrown through a window and a handbag removed.

The bag was found dumped in the garden of the house in Counting House Way, with its contents intact apart from a couple of pounds in loose change.

Witnesses or anyone with information are asked to contact Detective Constable Paul Lettis at West Mercia Police on the non-emergency number 101 quoting incident 157-s-070514 or ring the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.

Advice, including tips on how to prevent access being gained to the rear of homes, plus information on ways to prevent vehicle crime, is available on the force website at www.westmercia.police.uk
