Police have launched a murder investigation after a body of a woman was found on a Smethwick Street last night.
Officers were called to Cheshire Road just before 11.50pm following reports of a person collapsed.
Police attended and the 48-year-old woman was confirmed dead at the scene.
The street remains cordoned off whilst police investigate the circumstances surrounding her death.
Detectives are appealing to anyone who was in the area last night to come forward.
Detective Inspector Caroline Corfield, from Homicide Department, said: “We are still in the early stages of the investigation and are appealing to anyone who may have been in Cheshire Road or the surrounding area last night to contact us.
“It is unclear at this stage as to how the woman died and a forensic post mortem will be held in due course to establish the cause of death.
“The family of the woman have been made aware of their loved ones death and specialist officers will be appointed to them to liaise with them at this sad time.”
