Officers investigating the theft of a car from Rose Hill Street in Derby have arrested a man.
The 20-year-old man was arrested, on suspicion of robbery, at 5am this morning (Thursday October 8) in a house in Derby.
He remains in custody and is being questioned about the offence.
At 5pm on Monday October 6, as a 34-year-old man was getting into a blue Mazda RX8, another man allegedly grabbed him from behind and demanded the keys.
The assailant reportedly tussled with the driver and managed to steal the keys and the car and drive off.
Shortly afterwards the stolen car collided with some parked cars and a taxi in Madeley Street. It was then driven back onto Rose Hill Street, followed by the taxi driver, where it became stuck in traffic.
The original victim believed that the offender had returned and he and the taxi driver managed to detain the suspect.
Anyone with information about the offence should contact the police on 101 quoting incident number 549/6/10/14 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
