Detectives in Staffordshire have launched a detailed investigation into the circumstances which led to the discovery of two children and a woman who had sustained fatal injuries in a semi-detached house in Sherwin Road, Stanfields, Stoke-on-Trent at around 6.35 pm on Sunday 12 October 2014
A male was arrested by the police responding to the incident in connection with the deaths and he is speaking to detectives about this tragic incident. Whilst a detailed forensic examination of the scene has already commenced, it expected that police will remain at the scene for some considerable time.
Local uniformed police and community support officers remain at the scene supporting the detectives and forensics teams in their work and providing a visible resource to the community who are of course shocked by this tragic incident.
Ch Supt. Martin Evans, from Staffordshire Police said “We understand the local community are both shocked and saddened by this tragic incident, and we recognise the community’s need for information, however it is important not to speculate and let our detectives conduct their detailed investigation to establish the full facts. Local officers will maintain a visible presence in our community to support the investigation and the local community affected.”
