Police are investigating the death of a 32-year-old man whose body was found in Cheshire Street, Market Drayton early today.
Detective Inspector Tom Harding said: “The body was found at around 3.45am outside the HSBC Bank. At this stage it is being treated as an unexplained death.
“An investigation has been launched to establish the circumstances and inquiries will continue throughout the day.
“A post mortem is being arranged to establish the cause of death. Our inquiries include looking at CCTV footage from the town centre area to check on the man’s movements.”
He added: “We are appealing for any information which might assist the police investigation. Contact Shrewsbury CID on 101.”
The Shropshire coroner, Mr John Ellery, has been informed.
